We are Dan and Katie (your hosts, owners and property managers) The below photo was on our wedding day back in 2019 (with a street artist in Stratford Upon Avon in the UK). Aside from being a wonderful day it also happened to be the day that gave us the idea for the gîtes name! This was, however, a while before we found the property that we now share with you all. La Belle Époque was the name of our Honeymoon suite in the French-themed hotel in Stratford (Hotel du Vin) which Dan had secretly booked for us on our wedding day. In English, the name translates to – The Beautiful Time. It also happens to represent a period in French history that was characterised by optimism, regional peace, economic prosperity and technological, scientific, and cultural innovations. All these beautiful reasons came together to give us our name and we are thrilled to share it with you all!
Our plan to move to France has taken a few years to achieve and required some major changes but our life long dream to live in France became a reality in 2019 and we became the proud owners of La Belle Époque in mid-2020. We were always going to move here, it was just a question of when!
We fell in love with all that the Lot et Garonne has to offer after spending 10 months travelling throughout France to find the right region to call our home. Our location has the perfect climate with glorious summer days and wonderful places to visit and things to do for all ages and tastes..
